“Zeide” is the Yiddish word for “grandfather”. Ilan Serruya immerses us in a journey to the past and family roots through a celebration captured in a precarious domestic format to let us glimpse a map of affections and personal stories.

Artist Biography

Ilan Serruya is an Argentinian artist and filmmaker based in Madrid. His work shifts between non- fiction and formal experimentation, practicing with the presence of the body in juxtaposition with the timelessness of the image. He uses language or the omission of it, silence or landscapes to propose audiovisual spaces ready to be inhabited. He locates his research processes in-between, in the cracks or in the peripheries, to question in this way, if it is possible to raise new places for thought.
