Scent of Time depicts a coming-of-age story of 12-year-old Vlada who is grappling with different ideological influences growing up in the mid-2020s. Raised by her protective mother by the Black Sea, a recent political crisis has forced her to leave home and move in with a mysterious family friend in a peripheral city in Europe. The narrative takes place partly in the ‘symbolic space’- a liminal realm between her subconscious and reflective consciousness, in which her different experiences and dilemmas are expressed from an embodied perspective through dance.

Artist biography

Liminal Vision is an artistic research duo consisting of Finnish filmmaker Emilia Tapprest and Dutch, Colombian born cultural historian Victor Evink. Their collaborative projects explores the role of value paradigms in emerging technocultural developments, working mainly through moving image, performance and writing.

The core team of Scent of Time consists of performers Polina Hordiievska (UA) and Andrei Iovcev (MD); choreographer Dayana Mankovskaya (UA); artist and tailor Dasha Golova (BYS); graphic designer Camilo Garcia (COL); and musicians Tarawangsawelas (ID) and David J. Adan (VEN).
